Mea Culpa Release New Single: “Is it Punk Enough?”

Mea Culpa’s title track and first single off their new album, Is it Punk Enough, is a dope slab of rawly recorded by tightly played hardcore punk.

It starts with a dope bass intro and drum roll into some rapid fire hardcore punk with screamed vocals that border on crust punk style/grindcore. There are some rad rhythm changes throughout the song that keep it really interesting. I heard some killer bass patterns when the guitars were dropped out, and I only wish the bass were higher in the mix the rest of the recordings.

Lyrically, it’s addressing the age-old question about what it means to be punk. While not a new topic, I can see why it needs to be consistently addressed with each new generation of punks. I heard it in Dead Kennedys and Jawbreaker songs growing up, and I played songs like “All the Wrong Reasons” that questioned it when I was in The Overprivileged twenty years ago.
