The Flatnoise Release New Single: “Misunderstood”

There are a lot of folk punk artists out there, and I love a lot of them and have released an album with four of them, but it’s a little odd to have a folk punk ensemble. I dig this for sure. It’s got all the elements of pop punk overlayed with folk guitar melodies.

So in this case we have a full pop-punk acoustic band. The opening of the song and general feel of it reminds me a bit of Green Day’s popular “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” while maintaining their own unique sound. This is definitely for fans of Dave Hause, Tony Sly or maybe early Frank Turner.

I can’t deny that I miss the drums a little bit, but that’s cause I’m a drummer, and I’ve felt the same way when I’ve seen Tim Barry who I love. By which I mean that he mostly tours solo, so the occasions when he’s had drummers, percussionist or others behind him on the recordings, they are largely absent live, but I’ve come to love those versions too.

So in that sense I appreciate and enjoy the whole folk ensemble even if I miss hearing my favorite instrument :)
