Germany's Sex Beat Brings The Rage in their Newest Single, "Call Me"

Sex Beat’s “Call Me” slapped my left nut right off the bat with its frantically fast, distorted guitar riff opening opening before the rest of the band joins the fray. The drums keep a simple beat which actually works well with the frantic guitar playing, the bass that hits dope accents and the slightly distorted vocal wails that venture into screaming shouts.

There is a breakdown or bridge in the middle which slows things down and comes back with a slow groove punctuated by the group vocals with call and responses.

This whole thing is somewhere between what I’d hear in a 90’s Dischord release and a raw garage rock tune that I’d hear at CBGB’s in the 1970s. In other words, it rips.

It the band’s own words, "The title track and first single is a short, angry statement on the latest escalation of the Ukraine conflict. With fast, brutal strumming and a brutal breakdown, Sex Beat reveal its roots in the punk and hardcore scene. Lyrics dripping with cynicism simultaneously serve as an attack on political elites and a declaration of love for the Ukrainian people and the European idea."
