Noah Hines’s New Single “Lately” is None Too Late
Hailing from CO with his recorded done at the well known Blasting Room operated by Bill Stevenson (The Descendents, ALL, Black Flag), Noah has mixed punk rock with indie and emo in a compelling way that just has been instantly wanting to sing along.
The vocals are melodic and little high pitched, think John Samson a la The Weakerthans and the first two Propagandhi albums. The guitar distortion is thick but not heavy, more fuzzy without being grunge with some cool noodling here and there.
Lyrically, it sounds like I’m getting my second sad song of the morning. The meaning I’m constructing is that Noah is negelcting other relationships because of their focus on making music.
Lately lately you’ve been so alone
Because I’m obsessed with my microphone
I’ve certainly been there. I’ve had bands that played so much that I missed every wedding, birthday and more. And forget about last minute barbeques on a weekend. I’ve had to tell friends that I am booked every weekend for 6-8 weeks, and if they wanted to see my after that, I need to block it out in advance before it gets booked too. Not to mention the damage that type or schedule did on my first marriage.
If you dig The Get Up Kids or Joyce Manor, you’ll dig this shit.
