Busted Radio Release New Album: “Metaphor for Life”

Busted Radio hail from Wilmington, NC Carolina where I remember playing a dope ass warehouse show with Kill the Hippies, Flat Stanley, and local band whose name just escapes me even though I brought them up to Baltimore later that year. Give me a break for forgetting. It’s been 20 years.

What does that past have to do with Busted Radio’s new release, Metaphor for Life? Not much other than to say I know good punk rock grows there, and this band is continued proof of that.

This is punk rock for punk rock fans. No sub genres. It’s not crust punk, it’s not pop punk, it’s not skate punk, it’s not thrash punk, it’s punk that blends the 70’s British punk to the 80’s punk that began to emerge as hardcore. Most of all it’s fucking dope ass fucking good punk.

The first track “A.D.D.” has a dope call and response between the vocalist and the guitar and bass and then just hits into a rock infused banger . I dig the vocals a lot. Reminds me a bit of a more growly Stiff Little Fingers. Especially love the killer vocal wails. And don’t think I didn’t hear those hits on the ride cymbal’s bell you sly drummer you. As soon as the song starts, it ends thus the final line “That’s the whole song”. LMAO.

The final track, “Yesterdays (the Whoah song") starts of with a solid guitar intro punctuated with “Eye of the Tiger” like cymbal crashes before it rips into the verse. It’s got that singer/song writer feel to the phrasing of the song that I really dig. Oh and of course there are some Whoahs. The best part is that they sound like the whoahs I’d hear if I put my arms around three other drunk assholes at a show to sing along to a band’s whoahs. In other words they sound natural, they sound fun, they sound punk as fuck.

What’s that you say? You want to know about the other songs? Then you fucking need to listen for yourself. I’d suggest their Bandcamp page, so you can buy their shit and support a rad band.
