Dogdad Releases New Single: “Hospice”
Dogdad brings that garage rock infused with punk energy and interesting melodies over fuzzed out guitars that you can tell is influenced by bands like IDLES, The 1975, Dogleg and Home is Where.
The song starts with drum clicks that seem go six times with the all the instruments coming in on the 6th click. This gives the opening a sort of jarring urgency. From there it goes with speed just below a hardcore song and then drops out the guitar allowing the bass to take center stage. When the guitar comes back, its muted and not overblown again until the chorus. Throughout the vocals are ever present with a sort of high pitched warble that is interesting and catchy. There is an interesting doubled up vocal or group vocal towards the end, and then a nice high pitched vocal run at the end.
Per the artist, the song is about “letting go what’s gone”. This is best exemplified by lines like "You're in a fiction packed away inside this empty hotel room" which could indicate a desire to escape from reality or create a fictional version of a relationship to cope with the pain and loneliness.
