Worldsucks - No/Go! 7"
Wordsucks make heavy music for heavy times!
NO!/GO!
WORLDSUCKS talks a lot about what's wrong in the world. But, what's the way forward? There's only so far you can go complaining about what's happening without talking about how to change it. Instead of a finger-pointin' song, as Bob Dylan called some of his early protest songs, this is a call for our collective freedom.
"NO!/GO!" started as a concept of a peace summit between those of us who see the world for what it is and everyone else. To the right-wingers, the fascists, the oppressors, we say, Your world is dead. We know it, you know it. What do you have to show for all your rotten beliefs? You ain't free. You're still under the boot of the political elite and the billionaire class like the rest of us.
To the centrists, the complacent, the willfully ignorant, we say, You're at a crossroads. You can go on perpetuating an unjust, oppressive society that also harms you or you can imagine a new and better way that liberates everyone.
We stand with the people who believe in breaking down walls and borders, dismantling long-accepted institutions that serve only the ruling class, and destroying all vestiges of the colonizer and the cop that may live inside our minds.
The concepts in "NO!/GO!" are a brief and incomplete summation of the work of activists, thinkers, writers, theorists whose ideas have spoken to us, illuminated our thinking, and given us hope for the future. Our fingers are pointed not at each other, but to the new path we should all be on.

NO FUCKS GIVEN
No Fucks Given is the second complete song WORLDSUCKS wrote about 10 years ago, and it is fitting it will be on the final release we will do as a duo. The song is about Kevin Scully, Mark's brother, more right to say father who shared a brotherly bond with Nick and was a huge part of their lives. The song is a fitting tribute to Kevin and his unflinchingly authentic persona.
The musical style of the song is different from WORLDSUCKS' frantic and fast offerings, with subliminal elements of deep southern rock influence. Kevin has such deep roots in shaping the band. We talk about him regularly and share big laughs and reminisce about the larger-than-life persona he was to us.
After Kevin passed in 2013, he gifted Mark three Gibson Les Pauls, none of which were ever played. The guitars are hanging in his home, and the solo of the song was performed with one of them, a 1960 Sunburst reissue, which was his prized axe. The strings were not changed, and the song was recorded knowing a part of Kevin was going on.
This is the eulogy Mark didn't get to say, and to immortalize Kevin in song is an honor.
