Mary Mortem Releases New Single: “Phantoms of the Fall (ft. Mercy Necromancy)”
Listening to Mary Mortem’s “Phantoms of the Fall (ft. Mercy Necromancy)” is taking me way back in time. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to a gothic industrial night at the Velvet Lounge or Tracks in DC, but this song takes me back to that time period in the 1990s. It certainly sounds nothing like NIN, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Type-O Negative, but it nonetheless evokes memories of my deep dive into those artists. Dark, moody and “heavy” without being “heavy”. The closest I’ve come to enjoying music like this would be The Caustic Bats or Obsidian, both from Florida.
If you’re a fan of acts like Chelsea Wolfe, Marissa Nadler, King Woman, Ethel Cain, Nicole Dollanganger, then this is your shit for sure.
