SnakeSnakeWhale Bring that Midwestern Emo Pop Punk with a DC Posthardcore Energy!

I'm loving what I hear come out of Asheville these days with bands like Busy Weather and Cardboard Colony and SnakeSnakeWhale is no exception. To call it pop punk or emo punk sells it far to short. Their new single, “You’ll Get That On These Big Jobs” hooked me from the get go with its urgency and earnestness. Any DC area people remember Fallout Countdown? That’s what this sounds like. I feel I could be back at Wilson Center in DC or the Charm City Artspace in Baltimore.

The song opens with a mix of distorted guitar and guitar lead with a tight ass drum roll, and then drops to the muted guitar for the verse with really well punctuated and placed background vocals shouting and or singing along at just the right moments.

Their use of two guitars is well done. Sometimes I see to many bands with two guitarists that don’t actually use them anything other than doubling up on the same riffs and then having one take lead parts, but they are playing together by joining different riffs and sounds.

The bass and drums keep everything in synch and focused allowing the guitars to play around.

The almost ethereal vocals at the two minute mark before all the bass and drums dropped out was a nice and unique touch.

Needless to say I hope to see this band whenever they come close to my part of NY!

Check them out on their Spotify or on my playlist filled with punk bangers

Follow their socials too: IG and FB

Also since I love music, I found this dope video of their live show:
