There are genres of music that aren't for everyone. Anyone familiar with the more extreme side of heavy metal knows what we're talking about. Hardcore, death metal, black metal, grind and all the variations that come out of the various contaminations of these styles. The bands belonging to these currents are the most violent and brutal expression of music that fascinates and exalts hundreds of thousands of people at all latitudes.

You will never find these records as inserts in newspapers or in anthologies distributed on newsstands. Only certain record companies deal, and we would also say with great pride, with the distribution of these records which represent the diffusion of a frank and destructive word.

The DCXPC LIVE label is one of them. This label was notable for releasing several records recorded live at Lou's LMGA in Orlando, Florida. All albums released under this label are the purest embodiment of underground music performed live by the best metal and punk bands around.

On this occasion we will take care of the performance of the song Devour by the band Moat Cobra recorded on April 22, 2022 at the now legendary Orlando venue during their performance. The song is extracted from the DcxPC Live&Dead vol.1 album which can be pre-ordered from July 14th 2023.

Moat Cobra are a sludgy, metallic, chaotic, hardcore band born in Orlando in 213. The single we are listening to is the first piece written by the band after the last line up change that saw bassist Robert Oppenheimer join who completed the lineup composed by Dave Moreno on guitar, Al Serrano on drums and Brett Beavers on vocals.

A feedback sound opens the recording as the drums strike four. The piece starts with an introductory riff that immediately highlights the sonic power of the quartet. The drums are pounding between heavy rhythms and outbursts in blast beat. Brett screams like a demon with all the ferocity of his voice.

The riffs and trilled note passages are rooted in the best tradition of the genre. Listening to the piece we imagine the wild pogo under the stage getting more and more violent as the piece proceeds destroying everything it meets. The slowed down parts have an incredible groove and the song leaves no time to breathe. After about two minutes the piece closes and we can hear the audience screaming and applauding.

A true concentration of energy and power!
