1. How did the idea of recording a live album with DCxPC Live come about, and what made Morgantown, WV, the chosen location for the recording?

I had the pleasure of meeting Scott during a show we performed with Soulside at Tubbys in Kingston, NY. Our introduction stemmed from a mutual acquaintance, Flora from Maafa, who shared insights into Scott's professional background and interests. Recognizing an opportunity to collaborate on a live album, I initiated discussions with Scott, and together, we brought this project to fruition.

2. Can you share some insights into the energy and atmosphere of the live show captured on the album at 123 Pleasant/Fuzz Fest in Morgantown?

Our performance in Morgantown, WV marked our fifth appearance in the city. Initially, we supported Weedeater, followed by The Goddamn Gallows. The decision to record our live album during our third headlining show stemmed from the incredible reception we received during previous performances. The palpable energy and enthusiasm of the audience convinced us that capturing this dynamic atmosphere was paramount.

3. The live album captures the essence of Rebelmatic's performances. How do you feel it represents your band's style and stage presence?

Our music is inherently crafted for the live experience, encapsulating the true essence of our artistic identity. We are dynamic performers who take pride in offering a joyous musical journey to our audience.

4. What was the experience like working with Scott from DCxPC Live, and how did the collaboration contribute to the final product?

Collaborating with Scott has been an enriching experience. As a fellow musician and artist, his passion and understanding of our craft made our partnership truly enjoyable.

5. The album is described as pushing Rebelmatic further into the territory of iconic NYC rock bands. How do you see your place in the legacy of New York's hardcore/punk scene?

I believe our band stands among the greats that have emerged from New York, albeit with humility we acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of past, present, and future bands, recognizing the collective impact of a vibrant scene.

6. Could you tell us about any memorable moments or anecdotes from the recording process or the live performance itself that stand out to you?

The energy of our performances is electric and immersive, with each element contributing to the overall experience. it's challenging to isolate a single defining aspect, as the synergy between our music, stage presence, and audience interaction creates a multifaceted spectacle.

7. "No Single. Listen to the whole album." What was the decision behind not releasing a single and encouraging listeners to experience the full album as a cohesive piece?

Our live album transcends the conventional format of a traditional release, offering listeners an immersive experience intended to be enjoyed in its entirety. the decision to forgo a single release aligns with our vision for this limited-edition offering.

8. With influences ranging from Bad Brains to David Byrne, how do these diverse inspirations contribute to the unique sound of Rebelmatic?

Our musical influences span a diverse spectrum, ranging from Public Enemy, Bad Brains, James Brown, John Coltrane, Black Sabbath, Sly and the Family Stone, and beyond. This eclectic palette is reflected in our sound, which blends elements from various genres to create a distinct sonic identity

9. The album is released through Shiny Dome Records. How did the collaboration with Shiny Dome Records come about, and how has the experience been working with them?

Shiny Dome Records, has been a steadfast supporter of our band and played a pivotal role in the production of our live album. His sponsorship of Fuzzfest, where the recording took place, further solidified our partnership and his contributions have been invaluable to the success of the project.

10. The live recording captures stage banter along with the music. How important do you think the interaction with the audience is to Rebelmatic's live performances?

Collaboration is essential in our creative process and the realization of our artistic vision. Working with collaborators like Scott and Baldy allows us to leverage their expertise and resources to elevate our music and reach a broader audience.

11. "Sounds like James Brown in a Mosh Pit." How would you describe the fusion of genres and influences that shape Rebelmatic's music?

Our music defies categorization but can be best described as "James Brown in a Mosh pit". This encapsulates the urgency, intensity, and social consciousness that permeates through our sound.

12. The new Live Album follows the critically acclaimed 2020 album "Ghost In The Shadows" and 2022 release "Mourning Dove." How does this live recording fit into the overall narrative of Rebelmatic's discography?

The live album serves as a true representation of our essence as a live act. while our studio recordings capture our music's nuances, witnessing us live offers a visceral and transformative experience that resonates with our audience on a profound level.

Recognition from respected individuals within the industry serves as an affirmation of our creative authenticity. while it may not directly influence our music, it reinforces the significance of our contributions to the music community.
