City of Pieces Release New Single: “Status Quo”
Hailing from Salem, OR, City of Pieces brings a fresh take on punk infused garage rock. The song starts with a dope bassline with a solid groove and then kicks in with the guitar and drums to build to rockin’ verse with muted guitar and distinctive vocal phrasing. The guitarist does some rad noodling a little after the 2 minute mark before everything sort of drops a bit to prepare for the killer vocal line that lasts longer than you’d expect, but that’s why it’s awesome.
The bass playing really stands out to me with its rad fills and bass lines. The vocals especially in the chorus are melodic and yet still rock n’ roll gruff, and reminds me a little if bit like if The singer from The Damned had been in a grunge band in the 90’s. Definitely appreciate the fullness of the guitar sound and the different sounds that they are able to pull from a single guitar. This is how a three piece should sound. Full and blended and yet also individually distinctive.
