Mr. P. Reviews Dope Music
Pinkish Releases New Song “Hearts of Palm”
The minute I hit play, I did a double take. I immediately recognized those vocals as Nina from Wet Nurse one of my all-time favorite Orlando area bands
Storm Boy Releases New EP: Superposition!
I reviewed their last EP, With a Gasp That Reached the Sky, and I said they reminded me a bit of Leatherface and Hot Water Music, particularly with the vocals.
Cat Ridgeway Releases New Single: “Epilogue”
Somehow despite being stuck in Orlando for 15 years, I managed to never catch a show with Cat Ridgeway, and if her new song, “Epilogue” is any indication of her craft, it is definitely my loss.
Jersey Calling Releases New Single: “Projections”
I’ve reviewed songs by Jersey Calling several times in the past including their album Parasocial Security, and I’ve always dug their 90’s pop punk influenced slabs of rock, and this new song, “Projections” is no different.
Aberrant Kingdom Releases New Single: Bygone Conflict
I love it when a band keeps it fucking kicking for nearly two decades and still puts out kick ass mother fucking rippers!
Aku Releases New Single: “I Know About You”
Brighton’s Aku provide a kick ass slab of hardcore with some technical effects in their that give it an almost industrial feel at times.
Threats Releases New Single: “Hurricane”
Hailing from Nipaluna/Lutruwita (Hobart/Tasmania) Threats delivers a blistering hardcore punk sure to get the kids moving and the adults moving to the back to avoid a spin kick the the face!
Burning Hag Release New Single: “Hot Katana” off their EP, Ugly!
Philadelphia femme power trio mix sludge, metal and punk into their own grimy kick ass song, “Hot Katana”. This reminds me of a mix of The Cut-Rate Druggists and Antagonizör which is to say I fucking love it.
Eastern Pine Release New Album: extended.play
So far as I can tell Eastern Pine is a new Emo/Post Hardcore band from Western, PA who have decided to come out fucking shit up by releasing a killer album right out of the fucking gate!
2TOAROOM is back with their new single: “Crawl”
It’s been over a month since I’ve done a review, and to be honest, I’m still on hiatus, but when these RVA punk asked me to review another song for them, I found I couldn’t say no.
Disqualifier Releases New Album: Consolidating Logistics Since 1776
From start to finish Disqualifiers’ new album, Consolidating Logistics Since 1776 does a masterful job of blending classic hardcore punk elements, with pop punk and just enough post hardcore touches that helps the whole album sound really fresh and new.
DAFFODILDOS Release New Single: “No Pride”
This is a fucking dope first single, and I can’t wait to hear what else they release!
Common Crime Releases New Single: “Ghosted”
It’s catchy as fuck and despite being sad as all get out somehow makes me smile.
Martirio Release New Single: “Fuerza”
Not sure if this band is touring, but if they every come to NY, I’ll get them a fucking show for sure.
Spike Polite & Sewage Release New Song: “Florida”
With a name like Spike Polite & Sewage, I could assume there would be some amount of humor in their lyrics—which proved correct.
Common Crime Releases New Single: “Life Preserver”
I reviewed both “Repressions” and “Call of the Rat” for Philly’s Common Crime about a month ago, and they are already back with “Life Preserver” a melodic pop punk tune about heartbreak most sorrowful.
Colider Releases New Single: “Tiki”
This is a solid ass melodic punk rock song that could have fit easily on any of those popular CD compilations in the 1990’s whether it was Fat, Epitaph, Asian Man, etc.
Kathook Release New EP: Embrace the Madness
Okay. Just what the fuck? This is the sort of weird, rad as fuck music that would have easily fit onto Alternative Tentacles or SST back in the day.
Whippets Release New Single: “Splinter”
The Whippets are back with a new single, “Splinter”, off their new self-titled LP released by No Coast Records. Similar to the last song I reviewed, “Ice”, this new song spans so many influences that it is hard to pin down genre-wise or comparison wise.
Cross Dog Releases New Single: “Jane Roe”
Before I even realized that the Cross Dog was just drums and bass, their sound brought to mind bands like Evil Beaver and Cut-Rate Druggist who both have also left out guitar in their blend of punk, metal and grunge.
