GROTTONAUT Releases New Single: “Because”

GROTTONAUT’s new single, “Because”, opens with sticks on the rim of the snare and then two staccato guitar riffs that reminds me of the opening to Offspring’s “Come out and Play” but that is where the similarity between these two bands ends.

From what I can tell the band is over 40 i.e. around my age, and this song encapsulates their decision to return from a pause in bringing the punk rock in a sort of pro and con list. If I have their age correct, then they no doubt cut their teeth on the same 90’s punk rock as me. Having taken my own pause in my earlier 30’s after my first two kids, I can empathize with this song a lot.

This song is a melodic punk rock n’ roll song that ‘s a little slower then the standard punk song, but it still has the power and emotion that one would expect from a solid punk song. The vocals are deep and rich and distinct and the guitar riffage is dope.

I’m definitely going to check out the rest of their catalog. You should too.

You can also check them on Spotify or my punk playlist.
