Nina’s Yard Party Releases 1st Single: “Boom Beat Your Heart”

I love it when I hear a song, and I just dig it without any background on the band. Right from the outset this Nina’s Yard Party’s first single, “Boom Beat Your Hear”, hit me with its soulful ska reminiscent of class ska bands or more recent ones like The Phensic (Yes, this is a shameless plug since I’m releasing their live album this spring!). Then after I’m already digging the fuck out of this and wondering if they’ll be playing the Heartwood stage at Fest this year, I realize it has an old friend Jeff from Control This! and The Toasters playing sax and several members of Florida’s Killbillies. Fuck yeah! The all-star supergroup cast goes beyond my past Florida friends and acquaintances to include member of The Pilfers (I haven’t seen them since a show at the 9:30 Club over 20 years ago), No Name Ska Band and more!

Lyrically this is a twist on a typical love song wherein the singer is singing about how much love his wife has for all the people in her world from families to friends to people just happens to meet. Sounds like a great person.

I’m definitely stoked to hear what else they release in the future!
