Red Kate Released New Album: “Exit Strategy”

I first caught wind of this no nonsense politically charged punk band a few months back when I reviewed “Home of the Slave” which was a banger of a tune. So I was stoked to check out a few tunes form their new album Exit Strategy!

“Don’t Think too Much” is the opening track and it’s a fucking great way to start an album. It comes in hard with hardcore punk energy and attitude reminiscent of early 80’s hardcore bands. The back and forth between the two guitars really make this one rock. I also can’t deny smiling at the lyric “You'd stare into the sun if you thought it'd make you cum”. Hey, there’s a reason why I was a good middle school teacher, I have the humor of a 14 year old sometimes.

“Shut It Down” ends the album and reminds me of some MC5 (RIP Wayne Kramer) with its blues rock infused guitar riffage and overall delivery. Maybe some Zero Boys. I could see this being a great closer to a show as much as the album with everyone chanting “Shut it Down” as both the band and the crowd give all they have left and leave on the floor.

What’s in the middle? Buy the fucking record!
