The Lowcocks Release New Single: “Birth Control”

So I don’t know what a Lowcock is. I tried the Google, and all I got was a plow named after someone named Lowcock which tells me that it’s a surname. So is this band like the Ramones but with a surname that I’m totally ignorant of? Considering the topic of their new single “Birth Control” I could certainly see it as an attack on toxic masculinity and dudes’ highcocks (is that a word?).

Less than 30 seconds in, and I’ve got a dope drum beat, some rad ass bass guitar noodling, sick guitar riffs and then a scream that sounds like it’s coming from the deepest, darkest recesses of hell. In other words this shit rocks. It actually reminds me a lot of my old harDCcore band, The Twats.

Lyrically it’s an attack on toxic masculinity which is a topic that needs constant addressing. I just read about the recent Grace Hopper Conference which is a technology event that is supposed to support those that identify as women or as non-binary, and while those that identify as male are no prohibited from attending, especially as allies, this past conference was taken over by men who reportedly ignored all the diversity, equity and inclusion aspects and instead pushed, shoved and otherwise forced themselves onto employers at the job fair. Several of the regular attendees mentioned feeling unsafe and reported men saying and doing things that make me embarrassed to be a cis-gender male.

Okay so with all that being said, I found a sick video of them playing this song live, and live is best cause “Punk’s Dead, if it’s Not Live!”

This is definitely the sort of band that I look to for doing live albums!

Check out their song on Spotify and on my punk playlist full of bangers!
