Frightwig Release New Single: “Redistribution of Wealth”

So I’m a little surprised this is the first I’ve heard of Frightwig. They’ve been around on and off since the 1980’s and could easily be considered forerunners of the riot grrrl scene that was part of my teens in the early 1990s.

This new song, “Redistribution of Wealth”, is one track off their new album: We Need to Talk, and it strays a little from their roots (I checked out tunes like “My Crotch Does Not Say Go” on Spotify). In that it’s less punk/grunge sounding and more 1960’s San Francisco folk rock. This fits the lyrics of the song as well as the video footage with both focusing on highlighting the disparity between the haves and the have nots. It’s hard to argue since most people are still feeling the effects of the year long inflation while corporations are showing record profits. If you were a part of Occupy Wall St., you felt “The Burn for Bernie Sanders”, you’re an avid reader of Robert Reich, a fan of Billy Bragg, or if you just feel that the odds are never in your favor economically, then this song is for you.
