Discord Theory Hid From Me Right in Plain Sight: But I See You Now!
Hailing from Tampa this band has been bringing the post hardcore mixed with pop punk and more to the west coast of Florida for years. As many of you know I just moved away from Orlando, Fl after 15 years, so I wasn’t there when my buds at Montgomery Drive booked them at Will’s Pub in July. The real question is why I haven’t seen them before I left? Were they not in Orlando sooner? Did I know go to Tampa enough? Why weren’t they on Florida Underground Fest? They damn well should be next year!
Their recent single “Cabin Fever” off their new album, Eight Ways from Dire Straits, with a slightly faster then midtempo riff with a rad guitar lead, but then the vocals come in gruffer than I expected while still being melodic if not poppy. The opening words hit hard “Spiling my guts right out” are followed by an emotional baring of soul.
The second verse comes on just as strong with:
“Is it over now
What else is there to talk about
You sought something to live for
And I found something worth dying for
What is your excuse”
If I’m not mistaken a different band member is singing or they just have one singer with multiple voices. Whichever it is, I dig the change up.
The song is pain filled, but musically engaging. So while I feel all the anguish, I also can’t help but sing along with some mixed emotion of joy that comes from knowing that others out there have felt as I have.
As I was relistening to this song and writing the review, my audio moved onto an older song of theirs “Breaking The Wheel” with a great rythmic entrance and some mad flow in the verses. Check it our for sure.
If you dig the songs, then check listen to them and other killer band on our punk playlist!
