Femme Revolte Release New Song: “Stereotypes”

Femme Revolte are a riot grrrl punk band from Istanbul, and they’ve followed up their first singe, “Slut Anthem”, with another caustic attack on the patriarchy supported gender stereotypes with “Stereotypes”. I hope by now readers of my blog know that this type of topic is one that I stand strongly behind, and I’m happy to support a band and song that delivers this message especially when the music is fucking sick. I was actually in a band that sang about the same topic albeit from a more hardcore punk aspect: Call in Dead “Patriarchy”

The vocal melody and phrasing made me think of a combination of 100% Woman by Hagfish and the first Soviettes album. The riotgrrrl sound they bring is poppier than say Bikini Kill or Babes in Toyland. It reminds me more of Bratmobile or Slant 6.

I for one am a fucking fan, and I hope they continue to release new songs because I’m digging the first two that they’ve released.

Check them out on YouTube:

Give them a listen on their Spotify or on my Punk Playlist or my Grunge Playlist
