Broken Gold Release New Single: “Bad Days” ft. Alejandro Escovedo
I almost hesitate to mention that this band features Ian MacDougall of Riverboat Gamblers because there isn’t a lot of similarity between the two, but I kinda think that’s the point. If you’re going to do another band besides the one you’re in, it should sound different or else why do it? What does sound the same is the obvious knack for writing a well-crafted song and playing guitar with a passion.
Broken Gold’s new single “Bad Days” is more garage rock then punk rock, but it’s also awesome as fuck. I could see them easily doing a rad tour with Bob Mould or Jeff Rosenstock. To be fair, they could do a tour with Municipal Waste, and despite dramatically different sounds, I have no doubt they could win over the thrash metal fans the same way they’ve won me over.
Lyrically, I can totally relate to the track’s message of frustration and loneliness that one feels at those times in life when nothing seems to be going your way, and despite your best efforts it feels like you’re just spinning your wheels.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that the famous Alejandro Escovedo is a guest performer on this track which only makes it more rad.
