Ginko Balboa Releases New Single: Stand for Something!

I only got to see and luckily share the stage with Ginko Balboa once, but I left that night knowing that I had just seen a killer metal band with great riffs, powerful vocals, fucking great rhythms and dope song composition. Now that I’m listening to their new single, “Stand for Something” I’m reminded again of that show, and how much I fucking dig this band.

The song starts slow and heavy and then builds up at as it goes until it rips you to shreds faster than Leatherface’s chainsaw with deep and guttural vocals and precise rifftastic guitars backed by a rock fucking solid rhythm section.

At about the 1 minute mark the vocals get clean, and remind me a little of Mike Patton which is high praise from me. Faith No More is one of those few bands where I own every album. Love the double bass work that comes after that part too.

Just got torn asunder by crushingly brutal new part. Damn. I love it when there are so many parts to a song that it keeps me interested.

Now I’m at just past the 2:30 mark, and it gets thrashier and then starts to remind me of some NYHC style of stuff. So much fucking good shit packed into one song.

Just as I’m raging, it slows down. I can see the pit taking a small break right now, but still walking around like zombies waiting for fresh meat to attack, and as the rad guitar solo teases them along, they ever so slowly wipe the sweat from their eyes, and smile just a little in the glory of having experienced a song that was a good as fuck.

Check out their shit on Spotify or on my Metal Playlist

Everyone knows I love the live stuff, so here’s a live video too:
