Storm Boy Releases New Single: “Steam in the Room”!

First the disclosure, I loved this song the moment I heard it. It was days later that I realized that an old DC area friend that I’ve known for decades was in the band. So with or without knowing anyone in the band, this song fucking rocks.

I feel like this would be the band that Stiff Little Fingers would be in if they were a DC band on the late 80’s early 90’s Dischord catalog. The song is catchy, energetic and powerful and played fast-ish without going into breakneck speeds. At four minutes its far longer than the average song that I’ve listened to outside of my younger metal days, but I loved every second of it. The “speech” towards the end had me feeling like all riled up and ready to assemble and walk with fire!

The video is super rad too. I’m 47 so the post-apocalyptic nature of it mixed with punk rock had me think of Tank Girl and the static images across the screen made me think of Max Headroom. Both of which were perfectly juxtaposed with just the right amount of black and white live footage of the band playing.

My old bass player is out in Seattle, and he keeps talking about us doing a reunion show out that way. If it ever happens, I know I’ll be reaching out to Storm Boys to join us.
