Normal Weirds Releases New Single: “Shallow Grave”

“Shallow Grave” is the new single being pushed by Normal Weirds off their new release Same Difference, and it’s fucking sick. “Shallow Grave” reminds me of something I might have heard on a compilation of 80’s hardcore bands like Stage Diving to The Oldies released in 1995 by Restless Records. The vocal delivery is reminiscent of Agent Orange—except for the growling parts. The guitar work is gritty and raw but also layered with interesting technique. The bass and drums lock in together and provide the low end rhythmic support that fits the song perfectly without undue embellishments. If I were still in high school in the 1990s, I could totally see myself making a DIY t-shirt of their logo or having the image painted on my leather jacket. This is all to say that I fucking dig this. I’ll be checking out the rest of their songs on their new album for sure, and you should too unless you’re an asshole. You’re not an asshole are you?
