Tangent Release New Single: “Stop and Think”

First off yes, I’m crazy fucking biased. This band has four members from four amazing local Orlando hardcore, punk and metal bands who I have played shows with, played in and released albums for, but despite my affinity for these four dudes and their bands: Moat Cobra, Call in Dead, Our Escape and Ginko Balboa, I believe that I can say with full authenticity that this shit is crazy good.

My first thought was how much I loved the dirty ass bass which I know Mike has been wanting to unleash on the world since his days in Call in Dead. The drums are the like of which I could only dream of playing. The vocals are so raw but also so fucking good; they are the BDSM of vocals. And then then the guitar work. So many fucking layers. The layers. I’m lost in the layers.

The best is how impossible it is to pigeonhole this beyond saying its metal with hardcore influences. While inspired by bands like Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, All Pigs Must Die and Every Time I Die, they sound like themselves—a tangent of theses bands and others unnamed (Yes, I had to make a joke about their name). Their name is my only issue in fact. In a world where you can search up names, please don’t use ones that have been used again and again. But that boat has sunk, so I guess the only resolution is to make sure this band is so big that all the other Tangents think of changing their name, so people don’t think they are THE Tangent.

This is song 1. I can’t wait to hear their full catalog, and if I still lived in Florida, I damn sure wouldn’t miss a chance to go see this live.

Check out their shit on Spotify and on my Metal Playlist

Follow their IG and Bandcamp too.
