Fracture Type Release New Single: “Strafe”
Fracture Type sent me “Strafe” off their new EP Make Your Brain A Better Place To Live and this is some killer shit. It’s got influences from hardcore, metal, early emo and more happening here. In just over 3 minutes there are so many elements happening here, I feel like it’s the periodic table of aggressive music.
Vocally it alternates between “clean” vocals, hardcore/metal guttural vocals, dope harmonies and more.
There dope ass aggressive guitar and bass riffage with intense breakdowns but also intricate instrumental work especially in the bridge.
All of this overtop precise as fuck drumming that can go between slow and heavy to blistering thrashtasticness on a fucking dime.
They listed Fleshwater, Deftones, Vein.fm, Modern Color, State Faults as their influences, but I’m going to make a crazy swing and say it sounds like Shelter mixed with Converge.
Lyrically this phrase really stuck out:
*you can’t find the nerve to kill yourself I stole all the ammunition and sold it to your friends they’re mine now*
I’ve read it several times and I get so much pain and frustration and maybe betrayal from this feeling. I also ponder whether “they’re mine now” refers to the friends or the ammunition or both.
The song ends with the declaration to "Second guess your move," leaving me with a sense of unresolved tension and uncertainty about the future.
These dudes from from MA, so I’m definitely gonna try to catch them sometime or maybe do a show swap with them.
Check out their new EP on Bandcamp and listen and buy it if you can. This is another dope release that I wish was on vinyl.
You can check them out on their Spotify or my Punk/Hardcore Playlist or my Metal Playlist

Also since I’m a live album vinyl record label, I searched for some live footage and found this dope video:
