The Würmen Release New EP: “Vas Deferens”

I reviewed one track off this Würmen EP back in early November: The Würmen Release New Single: “Cognitive Dissonance” and that one song had already made me a fan, and this EP has only strengthened that disposition.

The first track ,“Holistic Medicine,” starts with an infectious guitar riff that drops out during the verse to allow the bass line and the vocals to take control until the guitar comes back with a palm muted riff that builds into a heavily danceable rock chorus.

The second track, “Ceiling Funny”, gives me a feeling of The Clash mixed with The Vaselines in that the pop hook is there but it also brings the rock with powerful riffs and overtop rad ass basslines that really synch with the the drums.

Restating part of what I said in my past review, the third track, “Cognitive Dissonance”, reminds me of what you’d get if Fugazi melded with (International) Noise Conspiracy. It’s hard edged, but also danceable. Gruff most also melodic.

The fourth track, “Remediation Policy,” is a bit more frantic and near the edge of sounding like they are close to losing control of the song. Really dig the bridge that sounds like something later Black Flag would do if they were getting fucked by Nirvana.

The hardest part is picking which song to add to my Spotify playlist.
