State of You Releases New Single: “The New Depression”
Fucking Boom! Rapid as fuck drum roll, visceral vocals, driving bass, blazing guitar all right from the fucking get go. Mix of metal, punk and hardcore that just rips your ass to pieces. Totally jamming on the dope bass line during when the guitar drops out. Powerful and catchy chorus. Love the fucking wah pedal into the build that reminds me of early Rage Against the Machine. Oh yeah dropped into a dope ass breakdown. If I was in NYC, I could be getting all creepy crawly right now in the pit. The song is 3+ minutes long but is packed with so many changes that somehow remain cohesive to the song as a whole.
Lyrically it attacks the state of the economy which the UK has struggled with between the pandemic and the shitastic idea of Brexit which has done nothing to help them. I could be wrong, but I take the new depression as not only financial in nature but also personal in nature to reflect the feelings that people have living in a world full of shit.
