A.N.J.A.’s New Single “Stimulation” Hits You So Good in The Right Spot, that You’ll Feel Almost a Little Bad about How Good it Feels!
My wife and I couldn’t get a sitter tonight, so we couldn’t travel into the city to see L7. As such, I’m stuck at home, and I’m gonna dig in and enjoy A.N.JA. - a garage rock, grunge, torrent of awesome that reminds me at least a little of L7 and other riot grrrl-esque bands while also throwing in some horror punk and maybe even touches of pyschobilly a la The Cramps.
From the moment I saw the old school horror style comic book cover of this single with, I was like hell yeah, and I was crossing my fingers that the music would be as rad as the image, and I was not disappointed!
A.N.JA. is a German-born, Belfast-based singer, and Stimulation is the 2nd single off their forthcoming EP - The Season of Evil out this November.
The song is dirty as fuck while also bringing the catchy huge big chorus and a slow hypnotic bridge which leans to the psychedelic. Clocking in at 3:45, its longer than most songs I jam too (hey I’m a punk who loves the shorter, faster, louder), but I never lost interest and each time I listened to it while writing this review, I never stopped enjoying it and find new little rad nuances that I missed before.
I’m hoping A: This new EP is on vinyl; B: That they ship to the U.S., and C: That A.N.J.A. comes to NYC or nearby when and if they tour the U.S.
