Spencer Jo & Ghostly Hounds Release New Single: “Talking to Myself”
Right off the bat this “Talking to Myself” by Spencer Jo and Ghostly Hounds had me thinking of Against Me!. Specifically the phrasing of the vocals reminded me of “I was a teenage anarchist”, but this is by no means an Against Me! clone. I hear elements of Tim Barry, Frank Turner and Chuck Ragan in this.
Lyrically the song makes me think of recent Supreme Court cases where cities are trying to ban outdoor sleeping, but since they don’t have adequate shelters that would be tantamount to persecuting a specific class of people i.e. those without a home. I don’t know that was their inspiration, but I hear all the warmth and empathy as well as a plea for understanding in this song.
Give it a listen on Bandcamp and support them by buying some shit
