A.N.J.A. Releases New EP: The Season of Evil!

I’ve been waiting for the full EP release to come out ever since I reviewed Stimulation nearly two months ago, and I am not disappointed other than the fact that there are only six tracks, and no way to get a physical copy!

The album opens with the title track “The Season of Evil” with a dirty as fuck bass line that is joined by a wicked distorted guitar riff all smothered in wild sounding verse vocals that eventually give way to a big hook chorus without losing the drive of the song. I’m so wishing that I was hearing this live.

The next track “Vacuous Lipstick Blues” (feat.Red Mountain) brings it a little slower, but no less evil. I’m going to assume Red Mountain are the accompanying vocals adding a deeper, gruffer base to the more melodic voice of ANJA. I could see this in a True Blood episode for sure, especially one of the sex scene between a human and vampire. Psychobilly tinged grunge.

I already reviewed Stimulation, but I still listened to it all the way through again, and it still fucking smokes!

Midnight Raid keeps with that dope distorted bass and killer riffs, but with a wall of sound thickening the whole thing up. The one breakdown reminded me of something I’d hear on Alice in Chain’s Dirt which was a great fucking album! Totally dig that guitar lead at the end.

Attitude Adjustment Programme is a catchier more mainstream song by which I mean it’s more straight rock n’ roll and less dirty as fuck grunge/stoner/punk. This doesn’t diminish it at all. It’s something I could have heard on a Joan Jett album or Runaways album. Pure fucking rock.

For fans of L7, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, The Cramps, Blondie and Misfits.

Also check them out on Spotify or on my Punk playlist or my Indie/Grunge playlist both filled with bangers!

Follow them on their socials too: IG , FB, Twitter , SoundCloud , Bandcamp and Songkick
