Blind Man’s Daughter Release New Album: Sundressed!
I’ve been following Blind Man’s Daughter for a few months. Not only does this progressive metal band lay down some rad instrumentation, but their singer can really wail. Their new 10 song album, Sundressed, is absolutely killer.
The opening song “Mirage Harmer” has it all — a killer riff that is matched perfectly with the drums and bass, sick guitar leads and powerful and rich vocal delivery. Great way to open the fucking album.
“Sundressed” - Okay this is the title track, so it means it’s got to be something special, and I was right. I think its the tightness and symbiotic way everything works together that really impresses me not to mention that ethereal singing that comes in on this one while still keeping it rocking. Like if Tori Amos went metal sang for Yngwie Malmsteen.
Moving on to the closer—”Waves” where I’m getting distinct Queensryche sound and influence which is great! I took my kid to see the Operation Mindcrime Re-tour in 2013 when she was five. The mix of acoustic, samples of electronic sounds and the metal guitar just really works with this song.
This may be a project that lead singer/guitarist, Ashley Wolf is the progenitor, and Ashley’s talents are unequivable, but Ashley has chosen wisely and found a set of highly skilled and accomplished musicians whose talent compliments hers.
If like me you’re a fan of 90’s progressive metal like Dream Theater, Queensryche as well as classic metal like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, then you’re gonna love this shit.
