Nina’s Yard Party Releases New Single: “Deader than Dead”
I did a review of Nina’s Yard Party’s first release “Boom Beat Your Heart” a few months back, so I was stoked to get this new song, “Deader than Dead”!
As you may recall Nina's Yard Party is a ska supergroup and the brain child of Ben Childs. A collaboration of many bands and artists in the ska and ska punk scene, including Big D and The Kids Table, Pilfers, Sonic Boom Six, Chris Murray, Spred The Dub, Toasters, No Name Ska Band and many more!
Per the band, “Deader Than Dead is a rocksteady tune that draws from early Jamaican music but puts a unique spin on it with the verses by David McWane speaking to those dissaffected people who may be a danger to themselves and others. While acknowledging that life is hard and confusing the song also says that violence is never the answer. One love!”
I’m loving the flow and the groove of this song. It’s just fucking sick. I also fucking dig the multiple different people taking over on lead to give some rad diversity. It’s like they are brining some Wu-Tang style by having each person deliver their own bars with their distinct vocal sound. Love it. Fucking love it. The last verse reminded me a bit of a Transplants song with its flow.
