The Lost Cause Release New Single: “17”

The Lost Cause play a mix of 1970’s British punk rock n’ roll and modern pop punk. At first I was afraid it would be akin to Winger’s “She’s only 17” which has not aged well as a song—even for a glam rock song, but it’s actually quite the opposite. It’s a cautionary tale that sheds light on the disturbing reality of predatory behavior towards young people, in this case a 17 year old girl who faces exploitation and more from the men around her. If I had one wish is that it would have allowed the girl to somehow vindicate herself or be empowered to take some sort of action, but I guess the sad reality is that most of the time in these situations the young girl is often a victim who feels there is little to no recourse.

I can’t leave it like that though, so if you’re reading this and you’re in America, you can go to the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network for help and in UK you can go to Rape Crisis England and Wales

It’s always good to highlight a topic like this, but its even better if you can provide a way for people to take action when they have faced sexual assault.
