Spider Releases New Single: “Tabula Rasa”

Stoked to hear another single by Spider! I reviewed “Deathmatch” by them a couple of months back and that shit was dope as fuck!

This new song is also a banger with some thoughtful lyrics that could reflect any number of things. I say this because the social studies teacher in me knows that “Tabula Rasa” comes from John Locke’s theory that we are all born with a blank slate and are neither good nor evil but become what we experience. The lyrics of this song make illusions to various things that are outside of my purview or just don’t quite grasp and are not easily Googleable from “A Norwegian mistake” to “First generation – Charleville” and “Memphis Cult”. With that being said the overall nature of the song is more easily grasped as they demand as they sing about a “directors cut” “alternative takes” and called to “navigate the paradox”

Musically it’s a brutal and fast as the last one. Good old fashion 80’s style hardcore which makes them a perfect fit for their show on 12/22 with Fear and CH3 (who I compared them too last blog) at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, so get your ass out there.

Here’s their video for the song:
