Mason Via Releases New Single: “Falling”
Technically speaking this is more roots inspired folk rock than (folk) punk, but lets be honest the two genres are just too jammed packed with similarities for me to give a shit what the specific category is. They both share a commitment to authenticity, social commentary, and fostering community and often have meaningful lyrics that just as often are dripping with dissent and while advocating for active change.
If I had to compare this to any (folk) punk it might a mix of Greg Graffin’s solo work like American Lesion or maybe a touch of Run Rabbit Run.
Lyrically the song screams for you to feel something as the characters in the song dive headlong into a relationship surrounded by impending risks and pain of getting hurt while knowing that what they are feeling right now will somehow make it all worthwhile.
