Mr. P. Reviews Dope Music
The Sons of James Release New Single: “Against My Will”
“Against My Will” by The Sons of James follows the musical path in the two previous singles I reviewed “Boswell” and “All They Told You” i.e. a mix of Pennywise, No Use for a Name and other Fat/Epitaph bands and would have been a standout band on either label’s well known compilations.
Outer Control Releases New Single: “Failing At It All”
Fast, melodic skate punk with just a touch of metal influence.
Another Astronaut Releases New Single: “Meaty Ogre”
Right from the start, I was digging the speed of “Meaty Ogre” by Another Astronaut, but then the vocals came in and just felt so reminiscent of Lagwagon that I was all in .
Buckled Release New Single: “Divine Comedy”
Buckled’s new single, “Divine Comedy”, is cocktail infused skate punk classic. I could hear this shit on any early to mid 90’s comp put out by Fat or Epitaph.
Cascade Riot Release New EP: “Life on Venus”
So right off the bat their first song. “P.N.C.” sounds like a Green Day song that I’d hear on early albums like Kerplunk.
Goodbye Dyna Releases New Single: “Punk Rock Queen”
Ever wondered what an indie rock band largely influenced by The Beatles and Pink Floyd would sound like if they were a punk band that would have fit on any 90’s punk compilation put out by Epitaph Records or Fat Wreckchords? No? Me either, but luckily, this band has delivered the goods that I didn’t know I needed.
Reactor 7 Releases New Single: “Falso Profeta”
This is some dope ass skate punk from Mexico! They didn’t include a lyric sheet for me to translate, so I have no idea what they are singing about, but that’s part of the beauty of music in general and punk music in specific—I rarely have to understand all the words to get the emotion and feeling the song is presenting.
Restroyer Releases New Single: “Parasite”
Restroyer’s opening riff to “Parasite” made me think of Strung Out right off the bat.
