Mr. P. Reviews Dope Music

Whippets Release New Single: “Splinter”
The Whippets are back with a new single, “Splinter”, off their new self-titled LP released by No Coast Records. Similar to the last song I reviewed, “Ice”, this new song spans so many influences that it is hard to pin down genre-wise or comparison wise.

Cross Dog Releases New Single: “Jane Roe”
Before I even realized that the Cross Dog was just drums and bass, their sound brought to mind bands like Evil Beaver and Cut-Rate Druggist who both have also left out guitar in their blend of punk, metal and grunge.

Sotah Release New Song: “Division Line”
Back in August I reviewed “Sotah” by Sotah and was touched by the poignance and sadness incorporated into a ska song. Today I’m reviewing their newest song, “Division Line” featuring none other than Dicky Barret of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Yogamum Release First Single: “Jordan Peterson Blues”
Yogamum’s “Jordan Peterson Blues” mix punk and grunge to create their own unique sound that’s got me hooked.

Marisa Bloom Releases New Single: “Dairy Queen”
Marisa Bloom’s new song, “Dairy Queen” starts off giving off strong rockabilly vibes wrapped in a punk leather jacket.

Nihiloceros Release New Song: “Purgatory (Summer Swim)”
I just reviewed “Penguin Wings” by Nihiloceros a short bit ago, so I was stoked to receive a new song so soon after. “Purgatory (Summer Swim)” is another fucking sick tune.

Femme Revolte Release New Song: “Stereotypes”
Femme Revolte are a riot grrrl punk band from Istanbul, and they’ve followed up their first singe, “Slut Anthem”, with another caustic attack on the patriarchy supported gender stereotypes with “Stereotypes”.

Graveyard Dogs Release New Song: “Facetegram”
This is another fucking solid song from a band that has probably been around Orlando long enough now that I can’t keep calling them the new band. Glad to see Orlando is still producing solid ass fucking punk rock!

The Serfers Release New Song: “Rat King”
The opening vocals of “Rat King” by The Serfers has that sort of emo punk / pop punk sound followed by some solid distorted guitar riffage that is punctuated with hits on the clean channel that add a cool counterpoint.

Colider Releases New Song: “Relay”
Colider’s newest song, “Relay”, has that early 90’s grunge mixed with punk sound.

Spencer Jo & Ghostly Hounds Release New Single: “Talking to Myself”
Right off the bat this “Talking to Myself” by Spencer Jo and Ghostly Hounds had me thinking of Against Me!. Specifically the phrasing of the vocals reminded me of “I was a teenage anarchist”, but this is by no means an Against Me! clone. I hear elements of Tim Barry, Frank Turner and Chuck Ragan in this.

Common Crime Releases Two New Singles: “Repressions” and “Call of the Rat”
Common Crimes bring us a rocking version of emo pop punk with their two new songs from their forthcoming EP, “Repressions” and “Call of the Rat”.

Ryan Cassata and The Top Surgeons Release New EP: This Machine Kills Transphobia
Ryan Cassata with band, The Top Surgeons, provide us an EP that is a dope mix of punk, folk, grunge, indie rock, and a pure fucking awesome.

Love Ethic Releases New Song: “The Mind is Cleansed Through the Mouth”
What can I say about Love Ethic’s newest single, “The Mind is Cleansed Through the Mouth”? For one it’s the song about my grandmother washing my mouth out with soap that I didn’t know I always longed for.

Sista Brytet Releases New Single: “Vi Har Det Här”
Swedish punk band, Sista Brytet, has released their first new song in five years, “Vi Har Det Här”, and it was well worth the wait. This is some rock solid pop punk with dope harmonies shooting straight into my brain

Peer Gynt Releases New Self-Titled EP!
Peer Gynt’s new self-titled, four-song EP is a oft-politically charged and yet hopeful dose of energetic punk rock!

Clitter Critters Release New Single: “Sex Magic”
I cut my teeth on the local DC hardcore scene in the early 90’s, so I have a deep affinity for the riot grrrl music of that time. Listening to “Sex Magic” from Clitter Critters puts me right back into that world...

Good Teal Release New Single, “LOOKOUT”!
This new song brings some dope ass hardcore mixed with metal like if Youth of Today were formed in the late 90’s and were on Victory Records.

Poland’s Abort! Deport Releases New Song: “Twist Pack”
From the opening vocals of this Abort! Deport’s new song, “Twist Pack”, I immediately thought of Fat Mike and early NOFX. This is some rad ass 90’s style skate punk with a bit more rawness that helps set it apart.

Monte Releases New Single: “Dysfunctional Mess”
Monte’s new song, “Dysfunctional Mess” blends grunge, punk and metal into a rad ass fucking single about pulling your shit together and finding a way come out of a band relationship better than you were when you went in. Yeah you fucked me up, but I came back better, so fuck you right back.
